Just Because.....

Dear Beautiful Brown Girl, 
Happy Monday! As you begin your week, I want to reassure you of some things. You are enough just the way you are. Whether you have short hair, long hair, braids, or dreads, or rocking your natural, keep being confident of the hair God has blessed you with. You don’t have to settle for anything but God’s best for your life. You don’t have to get caught up in the drama of girls or even be the mean girl. The world needs to see the softer side of you. Because you don't have to be strong all the time. Never give up on your dreams. Never forget that you are our ancestors' wildest dreams. Always take advantage of the positive opportunities that are presented to you. You are standing on the shoulders of your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who have sacrificed so much for you to be where you are. You don’t have to change who you are to fit in with the climate of the culture. 


Brown Girl, you are capable, you are smart, you are beautiful, you are loved, you are well prepared. So, don’t be afraid to be inquisitive and ask if you don’t know or understand. Don’t be afraid of being gifted. Don't doubt who you are becoming. Don’t be afraid of taking the honors classes. Don’t be afraid to sit in the front of the class. Don’t be afraid to run for office within your class or student government association. Don’t be afraid to live a life that you love. Don’t be afraid of failing because it teaches you tenacity. Don’t forget to say please and thank you. Don’t forget you are that girl. Don’t forget to shine bright like the diamond you are. Don’t ever forget that with God all things are possible. Don’t forget that God has great plans for your life. Don’t forget that your voice matters and your ideas matter too. Don’t ever forget that you are loved.
