Because It's On My Heart

Happy Wednesday! To read it in the news is different, but to see it happen to you and your family was eye opening. While on vacation, our family decided to leave the beach and head back to the hotel’s pool. I was sitting by the chairs journaling and watching my kids. I know they are not babies, but I am still mindful of our surroundings. Immediately, when our kids entered the pool, I saw families of other ethnicities and backgrounds begin exiting the pool one by one. I was upset, mad, shocked and in disbelief that this was occurring.  
To my surprise, my kids noticed what took place and my husband immediately begin to talk with them. He told them they deserved to be there like others are on vacation enjoying their families. He reminded them not to let anyone make them feel less than. I believe we live in a world where racism is passed from generation to generation. I encourage you today to be the change you want to see in the world. So today, I encourage all of us to teach our kids and even adults that’s it’s okay. It’s okay to swim together, vacation together, be friends, play sports together and so much more. It’s time out for teaching subtle racism on both parts.  We all matter because when our time ends, we want to hear God say servant of God well done. Believe me your race will not be a question. God is love and because God is love, I pray that before you close your eyes that you exhibit and display His love. Whew, that was heavy on my heart during vacation and a lot to digest.
